“The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.” ― Friedrich Nietzsche
What’s special about you? Don’t think too hard. Just start rattling off those special qualities that simply make you A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
Consider this your counterattack to all the negative messages you are exposed to throughout the day. Use this as your new self-defense mechanism when you are reminded of all of the insults that have been hurled your way.
This isn’t the time to be shy. This is an exercise in survival – survival of a beautiful soul.
Just pull out your phone, or a mobile device, grab a pad and pencil and let it rip. Tell someone your special qualities with the same detail you used to write your resume.
This time, however, make it personal. This time single out your defining characteristics, the one’s that people have complimented you about all of your life.
Are you kind? Down to earth? Super smart? Spiritual? Do you have a high IQ or an even higher EQ? Do you have a photographic memory? Do you love hard? Are you honest when it matters the most? Do you give more than you receive and know God’s the great rewarder? Does your smile dazzle? Or is it your eyes? Can you connect to others easily? Do you dream in color?
Are you handy? Can you take things a part, and easily put them back together? Do you sing? Do you share? Do you remember people’s names? Are you that person who says, “I never meet a stranger”? Are you a mystery?…
Do you know that in addition to your one-of-a-kind thumbprint, that the rest of you is uniquely created? You come packaged in such a way that it’s totally a waste of time comparing yourself to others. You. Are. Special.
Your physical characteristics make you distinct. There’s never been one kind of beauty.
Your personal experiences make you exceptional. Stand up in your truth.
Your personality traits make you an individual. Get comfy being you.
All of this, and then some, make you special. The next time someone asks, what’s so special about you? Be ready.
